Soap Bars

In the hope of inspiring people to take care of themselves and reincorporate the natural world back into their daily rituals, ALTR created hand-made bar soap with local, wildcrafted botanicals. They seek to change popular soap culture (i.e., alter) by offering products that showcase local plants, and, in this way, elevate (i.e., put on an altar) the seemingly mundane task of washing oneself into a ritual reconnection to the land that sustains us. 

All of the main botanical elements are grown or responsibly wildcrafted by ALTR and then brewed into a nourishing infusion that acts as a base for each bar.

This soap is 100% natural, made with organic ingredients, palm oil free and vegan. They make each product with great care.

Juniper  + Glacial Clay: 

An infusion of wild harvested juniper needles and berries is paired with a mineral rich glacial clay sourced from British Columbia, Canada. 

Juniper helps clear skin congestion while glacial clay adds gentle cleansing qualities. Both ingredients encourage circulation and support the skin in feeling revitalized. 

This soap is refreshing, with green, lemony and woody notes - perfect for a morning shower.

INGREDIENTS: olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, avocado oil, sodium hydroxide, castor oil, juniper infusion; glacial clay; essential oils of pine, virgininan cedar, juniper, litsea cubeba 

Yarrow + Calendula: 

Yarrow and Calendula are harvested from ALTR’s gardens to soothe and nourish your skin. Calendula is a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent and muscle relaxant. The achilleine in Yarrow reduces anxiety. This bar has been designed to be psychologically and physiologically soothing.

This bar has no added essential oils to keep it gentle for pregnant and nursing mamas and babies.

Ingredients: organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, avocado oil, sodium hydroxide, organic castor oil, wildcrafted calendula and yarrow

Spruce + Rose: 

Black Spruce and Rose are gathered and dried to create this fresh and relaxing smelling soap. Spruce is an effective disinfectant that is great for relieving aches and pains in bones and muscles. Rose is a famous anti-inflammatory and analgesic. This soap has been designed to be refreshing and palliative.

 Ingredients: organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, avocado oil, sodium hydroxide, organic castor oil, wildcrafted spruce and rose, essential oils of black spruce, palmarosa, ylang ylang and benzoin

Sage + Sea Salt:

Finely ground sea salt is combined with an infusion of wildcrafted sage to create a cleansing and mineral rich bar. Calming to the mind, sage helps restore peace to your system. Sea salt balances oil production in the skin. This soap has been designed to be mentally and physiologically grounding.

Ingredients: organic olive oil, organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, avocado oil, sodium hydroxide, organic castor oil, sage infusion, sea salt, french green clay, sage essential oil, lemongrass essential oil, lemon essential oil

Lavender + Honey:

Lavender tea is made from locally harvested sprigs, and then honey is mixed in too, just before saponification. Honey is incredibly healing, reducing blemishes and scarring over time. Lavender reduces the effects of nervous tension in body and mind, facilitating rest and recovery. This soap has been designed to be healing for people with sensitive or damaged skin.
